Dear Members and Friends of Immanuel Lutheran Church,
This Sunday’s Prayer of the Day rings awfully true for many of us:
Lord God, our strength, the battle of good and evil rages within and around us, and our ancient foe tempts us with his deceits and empty promises. Keep us steadfast in your Word and, when we fall, raise us again and restore us through your Son, Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen.
This was even true for our Lord Jesus! As we will see in this Sunday’s Gospel Lesson, even for Jesus the battle of good and evil raged within and around him, and our ancient foe dared to tempted even Jesus with his deceits and empty promises. The difference is that Jesus never yielded to the empty promises of the devil. Too much was at state: You! And me.
I hope to see you in church this Sunday. Have a great weekend, everyone.
