You open your hand and satisfy all living things with delight.\u201d<span lang=\"ar-SA\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><\/span><sup><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><a class=\"sdfootnoteanc\" href=\"#sdfootnote3sym\" name=\"sdfootnote3anc\"><sup>1<\/sup><\/a><\/span><\/sup><\/span><sup>07<\/sup><span lang=\"ar-SA\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"western\">Comment: \u201cDelight\u201d means that all animals receive enough to eat to make them joyful and of good cheer, because worry and greed prevent such delight.<\/p>\n<p class=\"western\">Then they are to recite the Lord\u2019s Prayer and the following prayer:<\/p>\n<p class=\"western\">\u201cLord God, heavenly Father, bless us and these your gifts, which we receive from your bountiful goodness through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"western\" align=\"center\"><span style=\"font-size: x-large;\"><b>Thanksgiving<\/b><\/span><span lang=\"ar-SA\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\"><\/span><sup><span style=\"font-size: large;\"><a class=\"sdfootnoteanc\" href=\"#sdfootnote4sym\" name=\"sdfootnote4anc\"><sup>1<\/sup><\/a><\/span><\/sup><\/span><sup>08<\/sup><span lang=\"ar-SA\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\"><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"western\">Similarly, after eating they should in the same manner fold their hands and recite devoutly:<\/p>\n<p class=\"western\">\u201cO give thanks to the Lord, for he is gracious and his goodness endures forever. He gives food to all flesh. He gives food to the cattle and to the young ravens that cry to him. He takes no pleasure in the power of the horse, nor is he pleased with human strength. The Lord takes pleasure in those who fear him and wait for his goodness.\u201d<span lang=\"ar-SA\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><\/span><sup><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><a class=\"sdfootnoteanc\" href=\"#sdfootnote5sym\" name=\"sdfootnote5anc\"><sup>1<\/sup><\/a><\/span><\/sup><\/span><sup>09<\/sup><span lang=\"ar-SA\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"western\">Then recite the Lord\u2019s Prayer and the following prayer:<\/p>\n<p class=\"western\">\u201cWe give thanks to you, Lord God our Father, through Jesus Christ our Lord for all your benefits, you who live and reign forever. Amen.\u201d<\/p>\n<div id=\"sdfootnote1\">\n<p class=\"western\"><a class=\"sdfootnotesym\" href=\"#sdfootnote1anc\" name=\"sdfootnote1sym\">1<\/a><sup><span style=\"font-size: small;\">05 <\/span><\/sup><span style=\"font-size: small;\">The material in this section was adapted from the Roman Breviary already in the 1525 Wittenberg catechism, <\/span><span style=\"font-size: small;\"><i>Das Buchlin f\u00fcr die Leyen und Kinder<\/i><\/span><span style=\"font-size: small;\"> (Booklet for the laity and children).
